Liz and I went here after work yesterday for a little snack. She had just eaten a few hours earlier and I was starving.
Skipping the main mean, Liz got right to the point and asked for the desert menu – which was a verbal menu of “Chocolate Cake”. This thing was bigger than her head. Rich, light, and full of chocolate, the cake also was topped with strawberries, mangos, and blueberries. YUM.
I had a few bites of the cake but also enjoyed the chicken enchiladas rojas which were unreal. At $14 for enchiladas it is a little pricey but in retrospect it was better than many $20 meals I’ve had.
It was a great evening for dinner at Caliente. My waiter turned out to be the owner and he was nothing but helpful. I ordered the skirt steak with shrimp and it was delicious. Later I was introduced to the chef which was the owners very pregnant wife. They both were extremely cordial and I would definitely be back again!

Our waiter was the owner, who was happy to tell us that when he had picked up the fresh seafood that morning at the market the mussels were not very good, and he would be happy to compensate my dish with plenty of shrimp and scallops. All of our food was delicious. Later the cook, co-owner, and pregnant wife of our waiter, came out and apologized for the 40 minute wait for our food and brought us a complimentary chocolate cake desert; which was rich and delicious. I can’t wait to go back.
