Yes, it does sound like a word you scream out during ecstasy, but Papacito’s screamed less authentic, ameri-mexi food.
We found Papacito’s on a whim driving down Lincoln ave and stopped in because it was the only Mexican place around. Overall it was a good experience, but what comment/review would be complete without a bit of old-fashioned nitpicking?
As we walked through the door, a sense of awkwardness came over me. Not that I wasn’t un-welcomed, but it seemed the restaurant’s employees were almost surprised to see me there on a Tuesday night and were unsure how to serve us. For example, we came in and I asked “can we have a seat?” and their response was “uhm, uhh…yeah, sure! anywhere!” I’m having a difficult time describing this, but it was a tinge awkward.
The food was good enough. I liked the salsa, which may have been a little bland and too mild but my girlfriend loved the chips. I ordered a taco salad which I would assume any Mexican would not be caught dead eating. In this guy was every vegetable you could think of. Broccoli, carrots, and spinach seemed the least typical to go into a salad and yet I was surprised by how tasty it was. I would order it again. However, I would not go out of my way to come back.
