recently my brake cable snapped as i was riding down chicago approaching milwaukee (which is about a stones throw away from upgrade), i asked myself, “do i really want to go to upgrade to get a new cable? or should i walk my bike to rapid transit?” then i thought back to 3 years ago when my key broke off in my bike lock and i went to upgrade for advice. one of the mechanics there actually suggested that i apply rubber cement to the broken end of the key and use it to fish the other half of it out of the lock. and even at that time i couldn’t tell if they guy honestly thought it was a good idea or if he just wanted to see if i would be dumb enough to try it. either assumption seemed highly likely. yeah, i walked to rapid transit.
